Being A Doctor- A Journey...;part-1

So in my last blog;we had overview in short , the life of a doctor...!!! Here is the link of that blog in case you guys have missed it-  https://smileyou2020.blogspot.com/2020/04/being-doctor-overview.html

From this blog onward we will slowly n steadily experience the journey of a doctor... This journey is going to be informative as well as an experience in itself too; even for non medicos...!!!

                                                              So lets begin...!!!

THE JOURNEY...Its very much like this in this picture...!!! It reminds me of famous bollywood song by Shaan- आँखों  में  सपने  लिए.... घर  से  हम  चल  तो  दिए ...  जाने  ये राहे  अब ले जायेगी कहाँ ...!!!😊 (meaning- with so many dreams in our eyes, leaving our house..., we have started our journey knowing nothing where it heads...!!!)

This journey typically starts after 12th standard needless to say for students with science background of-course and that too with biology as a subject in 12th specifically. There are entrance examinations to get admission in different courses in medical science like MBBS,BDS,BAMS,BHMS,BUMS,BPTh,VETERINARY SCIENCE etc...

Preparation for this entrances starts from 11th standard itself...Coaching classes business has flourished to 'leaps n bounds' thanks to this entrance examinations i must say...😂
Now a days there is one exam is conducted across nation called as NEET; with biology , physics & chemistry as subjects... Out of which biology has maximum weightage...!!!

Though there's one exam conducted across nation, all states have different criteria of admission which is really frustrating for students and parents... I really wish India to implement one nation-one education system soon...!!!

Apart from this, some private colleges have their own entrance exams under the name of deemed university with autonomous hefty fee structure... Its best suited for EXCLUSIVELY rich class people only.

SO overall in medicine..; education, examination & admission procedure, in my opinion, needs a huge reform to make it simple, affordable, without politics & available to most deserving candidate irrespective of cast, religion & financial position...!!!

                                            WHAT DO YOU THINK...???

(Leave your opinion in comments section friends. Next blog we will carry forward this journey... till then..; STAY SAFE... STAY HEALTHY...& STAY TUNED !!!)

  2. Totally agree...
Its high time to bring uniformity or consistency not only in medical entrance exams but at all levels of education.
Plus there should be criteria in admissions for economically weaker section.

  4. HEMANT JAISWAL here
Reforms are not only essential in admissions but also in further education. The standard of education, facilities, syllabus, pattern, teaching faculty, methodology, even UG level exams should be common and at par.
Also here I would like to update, for medical admissions, last year only three entrance exams were conducted viz. NEET, AIIMS and JIPMER and all were Govt. Exams. Now no private exams for MBBS/BDS admissions are allowed.
To the best of my knowledge This year only NEET is being conducted but twice a year will be the frequency.
Admissions will be 85% statewise and 15% on central merit both on NEET score basis. Some states are allowing to participate candidates of other states in their 85% quota too like Karnataka, UP MP, Rajastan etc.

  5. While your opinion on Medical education is true, this is the case for almost all educational fields in India. Almost everywhere you see undeserving people enter either college or get a job. Personally I have less hopes that any government or party will be willing to abolish the stupid caste system, bring actual help to ones who need and have a uniform bar and meritocracy in place. It's hard to believe that our solution to uplift the so called 'neglected castes' was to lower the standards of admission for them, right?
